The hirer needs to bring:

Their driving licence and the driving licences of all other drivers;

The credit/debit card & statement of the card used to book and pay for the camper hire; issued within the last month and having an address that corresponds with the address on your driving licence and;

A recent utility bill (gas, electricity, water) with an address that corresponds with the address on your driving licence – Not mobile phone

The Hirer will also need to bring along the refundable security deposit, either in the form of cash, unless already received.

We cannot release the campervan until satisfactory proof of identity is provided.

Can we take the camper off road?

Campers may be taken onto grassed, mown campsites but under no circumstances can they be taken onto beaches or sea-shores. It invalidates the insurance and can damage the vehicle.

Can you provide bed linen, sleeping bag’s & towels?

Yes, see extra’s

Can I bring my hair dryer?

Of Course, all of our new vans are fitted with 240v sockets for use with electric hook up, which means you needn't be without hair dryer on this camping trip. Please check with the camp site with regards to using them with their electric hook up guidelines.

How many does the van sleep?

Our Vans seat 5 and sleep 4 adults. If you need a little extra space add an awning to your hire, awnings comfortably sleep 2 adults and can provide extra storage for your luggage, see extra’s

Will my belongings be covered in the campervan insurance?

Unfortunately your personal belongings are not covered by our insurance; therefore it is recommended that you take out your own travel insurance policy.

What will the security deposit be used for?

The refundable deposit will only be used where damage is caused to the van and interior during your hire period. The Insurance will cover you in the event of a reported accident / collision.

Are there seat belts suitable for baby/child seats?

Both our campervans are fitted with 3 point seatbelts in the front and the rear. The campervans vans have two 3 point seat belts and one lap belt.

We also provide child seats, which have been checked by Mothercare to make sure they are suitable for the van (We have a 14month old, so we know the difficulties in making the right choice) (£15 see our extras)

Can we bring our pet?

Apologies, but unfortunately our vans are pet free.

Can we hire a camper for the weekend?

Normally the hire is for a minimum of three nights. However, do check in case of cancellations or availability in both peak and off peak periods.

Midweek hire of up to 4 days is also available.

Do we have to take the awning?

No, the awning is optional. In fact we always suggest you travel as light as possible, but the awning does fit nicely on the roof rack.

How easy is the awning to put up and down?

Very easy, there’s even a video to show you how. It’s a drive-away awning, which means it’s easily unclipped and left at the campsite while you head out to your next adventure.

Can I smoke in the campervan?

NO SMOKING anywhere inside the van or awning. It is prohibited by law as this is a commercial vehicle.

Any damage or the need to fumigate will result in a minimum charge of £400 for the vehicle cleaning and item replacement.

Can we pull into a lay-by and use the gas hob?

Yes, but for safety and ventilation, the roof needs to be raised whenever the gas hob or grill is used. Also remember to close the gas cylinder when driving.

Can we sleep on the side of a road or in a lay-by ?

There doesn’t seem to be any national legislation either permitting or prohibiting roadside camping (see www.motorhomeparking.co.uk/roads.htm) , however, there are a number of restrictions which apply to waiting and parking (summerised in rules 238-252 of the Highway Code), along with specific traffic regulation orders passed by local authorities within an area in which they have jurisdiction. If you are thinking of parking and sleeping in any given area, it would be best to gain permission from the owner of the land. In the case of a lay-by, this would be the local authority. It is also worth noting that it will depend on the attitude of the local authority and/or police as to whether you will be moved on or not. Parking on the road or in a lay-by will be at your own risk, you should park safely away from traffic. Our best advice would be to find a designated campervan parking area for overnight stays.

Where can I go in the camper?

Anywhere in mainland UK, unless otherwise agreed with VdubVentures

How different is a VW campervan to drive?

You will need to adjust your driving style. Although our vans are new, they are not the same as a modern vehicle! A big steering wheel, a great big gear lever and no automatic gearbox. Air conditioning comes in the form of winding down the window, by Hand! Our vans are fitted with power steering and rear parking sensors for that extra ease.

Please allow ample time for all your journeys. As your vehicle does not have ABS, please leave lots of space, be vigilant on the road and allow more time for braking and gear changing. The van does not have the capability to accelerate out of any situation, so again, drive carefully and remain extra vigilant, being aware that this is a totally different driving experience and you are on holiday.

A camper van adventure is all about taking a break from the hustle and bustle of modern day life and taking your time; it will take the first 30 minutes or so to get used to a slower pace of life.
