buying a VW camper

A dream realised as we purchase our first VW Campervan for over 25 years - and then another one :0)

Our last one was sadly left in Sydney, with a new owner to take the memory machine on more miles around the Australian coast... Those were the days (I think?) gone but never forgotten.

So, we're back. We're older, wiser (mmm) and raring to explore some of the many crooks and crannies the coastline and towns of good old Blighty. This time in a little more plusher set of wheels to suit our creakier bones.

Stan first. Bought in Northumberland and driven down to sunny Colchester for his makeover. Ollie next, found in London and booked in for a full body re spray – he never quite suited the pale blue and has been smiling ever since the new orange glow. Both stripped, rebuilt (like something out of the A Team archives), IT literate with their Bluetooth, parking camera's, ipod, flatscreens and PS connections, and comfier than a warm duvet on a winters morning (or something??).

Why Stan and Ollie? 'Cause it just fits. We grew up on the fun filled pair, with their many adventures and never say die attitude. It only seemed apt to name these two after the famous couple who we hope will go on to be as adventurous and fun for all who come across them as Laurel and Hardy were for us.

It feels like a new lease of life for us and they're an absolute fascination for Leo (our 20 month old) who I'm sure is going to make this well worth the effort.

The plan. To rent the rebuilt beauties to loads of happy people so they can have similar memories for years to come and to make some more of our own.

We'll keep you posted...
